As minority women, we agree that it’s difficult to ask for help even from our partners. We struggle with carrying our load, while the easiest thing to do is to ask for a hand. But what if the person disappoints us? What if they don’t do as much as you expected, or the help got recorded in the running tab, and now you owe them one?
Asking for help is not easy, but it is necessary. It is a sign of strength, not weakness. It gives you room to focus on other important things like resting for your well-being.
