This week we talked about wishing and doing. The truth is we all want something to be different in our lives. The difference is those of us who spend a lifetime wishing we could be something or do something in this life are filled with regrets in the end. We get to a place where we settle into a mundane routine over time. We watch others' lives around us, wishing we could experience their feelings. Even when we are out, we spend so much time scrolling on social media platforms that we again find ourselves wishing we could live the life we think others are living. We're so caught up in it that we miss out on being in the moment and just waste time wishing to be someone or doing something else.
How do you know what your destiny could be if you waste your time wishing to be living someone else's life? How do you know it could be YOU living that life if all you do is waste your precious time desiring to be a clone of someone else? Imagine doing the work to achieve your wish. We are quick to give up on ourselves when we can't master something from our first attempt. After our one failure, we offer excuses for our failure. We are quick to give in to a defeatist mentality rather than do the steps leading down the path toward the end of the goal. We need to realize that when we walk the trail, there are strategically placed pit stops to help us maintain the motivation to walk toward the end.
As I've said before, we're no experts on this stuff. We do not hold any degrees to offer the correct wording or to promote expert advice. We offer insight into missed opportunities wishing for a better life and hoping it would magically appear before us! The minutes we've wasted waiting for the blessing instead of working for the blessing! Take it from us, the lessons we've learned the hard way. You build resiliency by what you DO rather than what you wish or where you wish to be. Use the community around you to continue towards your wish. There's always that one person who believes in you and knows how special you are. Surround yourself in the presence of that one person instead of the 1,000 people who'll entertain your wishing. As long as you remain wishing, you're not a threat to leave them by the wayside.
Stop wishing, ladies and gentlemen, and start doing. One minute-by-minute, day-by-day, open your eyes, tell yourself, "I want," and go do it!
Check out this clip from a TEDx Talk show regarding self motivation. It's an oldie but relevant to this week's episode!
